CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MARCH 28, 2018 <br /> <br />3. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br /> <br />4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />a. Continued discussion on current wastewater chemistry at the Kealakehe <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant. <br /> <br />b. Continued discussion regarding composting of old lumber and whether borate <br />degrades the compost quality. <br /> <br />5. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />a. Presentation by the Department of Environmental Management’s Recycling <br />Coordinator regarding recycling education at the schools. <br /> <br />b. Discuss recommending to DEM that when it contracts with contractors for things <br />like recycling and reuse of water, an educational component is included. <br /> <br />c. Discuss disposal of soil contaminated by arsenic from Hilo to the West Hawaiʻi <br />Landfill, what the EPA regulations are, and how it will be managed to prevent air <br />and water contamination. <br /> <br />d. Formation of a permitted interaction group. Pursuant to HRS Section 92-2.5, the <br />Commission proposes to form a permitted interaction group whose members shall <br />investigate how to address implementing the Commission’s resolution approved <br />and adopted by the Commission on March 28, 2018, to adopt a proactive <br />pollution elimination program consistent with Federal NPDES standards and <br />practices. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
