Re: Capital Budget

Director
Aaron K.H. Brown
Deputy Director
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Capital Budget to increase the current
fiscal year's appropriation of the Hilo WWTP Rehabilitation and Replacement project by
$116,000,000 bringing the total to $226,000,000. This additional appropriation is needed
as the costs to renovate the Hilo Wastewater Treatment Plant are higher than anticipated.
The Department of Environmental Management respectfully requests that a breach be
authorized to submit this resolution after the September 13, 2024 submission deadline,
and be placed on the October 1, 2024 Committee agenda in order to move forward with
the project. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Christopher Sparber
of the Department of Environmental Management at 238-6233.
