CALL TO ORDER& ANNOUNCEMENTS: Commission Chair Thom Randle called the <br /> meeting to order at 9:08 a.m. It was noted that Chair Randle's term ends December 31, 2015. <br /> Director Leithead Todd presented Chair Randle with a Certificate of Appreciation from the <br /> Mayor for his role and participation in the Environmental Management Commission. <br /> Deputy Corporation Renee Schoen shared her concerns regarding the automatic appointment from <br /> Vice Chair to Chair each year, noting that it is not in the commission rules and is not in <br /> compliance with the County Charter. This item will be placed on the January, 2016 meeting <br /> agenda for further discussion. <br /> 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF OCTOBER 28, 2015 MEETING: <br /> Commissioner Trina Nahm-Mijo moved to approve the October 28, 2015 minutes as <br /> written. Commissioner Luana Neff seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously with <br /> members present: Fritz, Nahm-Mijo, Neff, Osborne and Randle voting yes. <br /> 3. APPROVAL OF ADDENDUM AND/OR SUPPLEMENTAL AGENDA: None <br /> 4. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON ITEMS LISTED ON AGENDA: None <br /> 5. CORRESPONDENCE/REPORTS/DISCUSSION: <br /> ■ Director's Report (attached to original minutes): <br /> DENGUE FEVER UPDATE <br /> The county is temporarily accepting tires at all transfer stations for residents only. Only regular <br /> passenger size tires are being accepted. There is a 10-tire limit and tires cannot have rims. <br /> Residential customers are requested to check in with the attendant at the transfer station for <br /> instructions on where to place the tires. 5,000 tires were collected the first 1-1/2 weeks of collection. <br /> Last week's cost for tire collection was $45,000. There will be additional costs for purchase of new <br /> containers and contracting with a vendor to transport tires off island. <br /> The Dengue Fever message on our \ website clarifies the appropriate tires <br /> for disposal. The county will work to assist with tire disposal from community association clean-ups <br /> but has no authority to go on to private property to collect tires. <br /> County of I lawafi rc an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. <br />
