The donation for the 10 mini buses came into play when Honolulu OTS was required to <br /> procure for new buses through federal funding. He further stated that if not for this requirement, <br /> Honolulu OTS would have kept buses as they are very reliable and have a long-life span. These buses <br /> were used for Honolulu's daily short routes, which included steep grades and high elevation routes <br /> requiring great cut back turning abilities. Lastly, he noted that he was not with information on the <br /> current mileage of these buses, however based off of the federal regulations that Honolulu OTS must <br /> abide, buses must be replaced at either 12 years old or 500,000 miles.
