HB 1729, HD1 - HB 1719 - SB 2174 <br />RELATING TO REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES. <br />Allows the director of finance of a county to require payment of outstanding charges <br />owed to the county for the towing, removal, or disposal of an abandoned or derelict <br />vehicle within the county before issuing a motor vehicle certificate of registration. <br />Passed First Reading, referred to TRN, JUD, FIN <br />Reported from TRN (Stand. Com. Rep. No. 99-20) as amended in HD 1, passed <br />Second Reading, reported from JUD and referred to FIN <br />HB 2556, HD1 Hashimoto <br />Authorizes the withholding and revocation of vehicle registrations and driver's licenses <br />for those who abandon a vehicle under specified conditions. Authorizes the assessment <br />and collection -of charges relating to abandoned and derelict vehicles. <br />In testimony to FIN and TRS, as directed by the FIN Chair, (see appended testimony), <br />HSAC requests that H.B. No. 2556, H.D.1, be further amended by amending subsection <br />(b) of section 286-51, HRS, to delete the cap on the fee that a county may impose to <br />defray the costs to remove and dispose of abandoned or derelict vehicles. <br />HB 1721 - SB 2176 SEE HB 2556 ABOVE <br />RELATING TO REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES.
