If appropriate, describe publically owned land or property located within the jurisdiction that <br />may be used to address the needs identified in the plan <br />County owned land has been used in the past, and will be used in the future, to develop affordable <br />housing projects for the low- and moderate -income households throughout the County of <br />Hawaii. Usually, a long-term lease (55 years) is executed with the non-profit organization for a nominal <br />annual lease amount. It is stated in the lease that the non-profit organization must keep the project <br />affordable to low- and moderate -income households Tor the duration of the lease. <br />The County of Hawai'i's Kamakoa Nui Community Housing project located at Waikoloa, South Kohala is <br />designed to provide workforce housing for low- and moderate- income persons. The first <br />phase included the sale of 91, fee simple single family and bungalow style units. The County is currently <br />in the planning and design phases of the next increment for multi -family rental housing and anticipates <br />producing 60 to 100 units. <br />The County of Hawaii received an Executive Order from the State of Hawaii's Department of Land and <br />Natural Resources (DLNR) granting the County of Hawaii control and management rights to a vacant <br />single-family property located at 1215 Kaliii Place, Hilo, Hawaii, in the University Heights Residential <br />subdivision.
