REQUEST: <br /> The Department of Public Works Traffic Division is requesting a resolution authorizing the payment of funds <br /> of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year for a multi-year llease of one (1) Crane Truck for the <br /> Signals and Street Lights section. The lease to purchase would be for a period of no more than five (5) <br /> years. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The new crane truck will be used islandwide for hauling materials to job sites, changing Intersection <br /> Controller Cabinets and UPS Cabinets, and installing street light poles and traffic signal poles with mast <br /> arms. The current crane truck has a limited boom arm length of 24'which makes it challenging for the crew <br /> to restand street light poles and new traffic signal poles with mast arms. To remove and install taller traffic <br /> signal poles with mast arms, we currently hire a contractor with a large crane truck to assist with installation. • <br /> The new equipment will increase productivity, efficiency, reduces expenses in the long run and improve the <br /> ability of the Traffic Signal &Street Light crew with islandwide maintenance and installation. <br /> The purchase price is approximately$300,000.00 The estimated lease cost is approximately$5,000.00 per <br /> month or$60,000.00 annually.
