REQUEST: The Department of Public Works Traffic Division is requesting a resolution authorizing the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year for a multi-year llease of one (1) Crane Truck for the Signals and Street Lights section. The lease to purchase would be for a period of no more than five (5) years. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The new crane truck will be used islandwide for hauling materials to job sites, changing Intersection Controller Cabinets and UPS Cabinets, and installing street light poles and traffic signal poles with mast arms. The current crane truck has a limited boom arm length of 24'which makes it challenging for the crew to restand street light poles and new traffic signal poles with mast arms. To remove and install taller traffic signal poles with mast arms, we currently hire a contractor with a large crane truck to assist with installation. • The new equipment will increase productivity, efficiency, reduces expenses in the long run and improve the ability of the Traffic Signal &Street Light crew with islandwide maintenance and installation. The purchase price is approximately$300,000.00 The estimated lease cost is approximately$5,000.00 per month or$60,000.00 annually. The County will own the Crane Truck at the end of the five (5)year lease period.
