JtY.oF M� <br />COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAII <br />•f,TF F <br />RESOLUTION NO. 134 21 <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION <br />OF A BRONZE STATUE OF A MYTHOLOGICAL FISHERMAN TO THE <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII. <br />WHEREAS, Henry Bianchini is a local sculptor and craftsman who sailed into Hilo Bay <br />on August 21, 1969 on a 30' self -built trimaran, "Island Dancer;" and <br />WHERAS, Henry Bianchini and his shipmate, James "Ole" Olsen, witnessed the Mauna <br />Ulu eruption after 19 days at sea, which gave him a unique sense of place. Here it became <br />possible to live his dream of growing his family and his life in art; and <br />WHEREAS, Henry Bianchini would like to donate "HO`OMALULE `UPENA KILOI" <br />(Metamorphosis of a Net Fisherman), a cast bronze statue (Exhibit A) to the Department of Parks <br />and Recreation and to the Hawaiian host culture in honor of the diversity of our island; and <br />WHEREAS, HO`OMALULE `UPENA KILOI will be located at the recreational area <br />commonly known as "Isles"; and <br />WHEREAS, HO`OMALULE `UPENA KILOI is valued at $10,000; and <br />WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that <br />the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other <br />personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section <br />2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or <br />personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, <br />may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and <br />
