In 2019, an Accountant I position was created utilizing funding received <br /> through a grant from the State of Hawai`i, Department of Health Emergency Medical <br /> Services and Injury Prevention System Branch. In 2020, funding for this position was <br /> eliminated due to cutbacks. The County of Hawaii plans to fund this position as it is <br /> critical in order for the Fire Department's fiscal staff to continue to provide island-wide <br /> services to the Department and the public. <br /> The Fire Department respectfully requests that a breach be authorized to submit this <br /> resolution after the May 13, 2021 submission deadline, and to waive it from the Finance <br /> Committee in order to be placed on the June 2, 2021 Council agenda. They also request <br /> that the five-day hold for reconsideration period be waived in order to further expedite <br /> this resolution.
