SYE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation, which qualifies as a <br /> nonprofit organization as defined above, will utilize the funding in conjunction with <br /> other resources to purchase a helicopter to be donated to the County of Hawaii Fire <br /> Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to provide $250,000 to the Daniel R. <br /> Sayre Memorial Foundation; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, the County of Hawaii is authorized to provide a grant of$250,000 to the Daniel <br /> R. Sayre Memorial Foundation for the purpose indicated above. <br />
