Did receive an email from ZVACo for annual revenue dues.
b. County Reports:
County of Hawaii
CM Kimball: ISI County did have their first reading in committee with the resolution
on HSAC, will hear it first week in December, on the 8th in full council and then it
will be complete.
Also passed first reading in council with the TAT bill. Did have some discussion
whether it is possible to exempt HI residents from the TAT. Corp counsel advised
probably not through the .FIDS, may need to modify at the state level. Logistically
challenging to do it for one county and not another.
CM Waters: Came up on Oahu too but not sure how to do it logistically.
County of Kauai
Kauai - finalizing the glamping bill, addressing open and ag camping. Want to
reserve that activity for the community but also realize expanding short term
vacation rentals onto viable agriculture land.
Also passed some zoning requirements. Clean up needed around the zoning code.
Chid King:Are you for or against glamping?
CM Chock: Introduced the bill to restrict the activity. More concerned about the
large-scale commercial activity.
County of Maui
CM King: First historic bill, aina kupuna bill passed first, second and final reading.
allows long term maui residents to maintain continued use of their lands. An
exemption for folks who have had generational ownership of their lands for a long
time, this is a tax exemption. Tax dedication would last ofr 10 years. Way of helping
our families hang onto their land despite the rise in taxes.
Sunscreen chemical ban: Eliminated from sale, use and distribution of all
non-mineral sunscreens. Only two allowed are titanium oxide and zinc oxide
