Hope can continue to do this and expand the fund. Talk <br /> about looking for additional funds at the state level. <br /> CM Ding: At a workshop with Senator Chris Lee recently. To allow counties to assess <br /> a fee as cesspools are one of the problems, could mean a lot of funding to come in. <br /> Motion to receive the county reports -passed. <br /> c. NACo Deport <br /> d. WIR Report <br /> CM Richards: WIR in Salt Lake City, started out with a tour. Getting together with <br /> the group is easier than zoom. Started with a tour of the homestead hyro electrical <br /> plant, they talked about the whole water issue for Utah and water of Colorado. The <br /> challenge in managing the downstream water needs. Thinking of HI. They are facing <br /> some of the same challenges. <br /> We lost the Kohala ditch, working on the funding to get it back. <br /> President Mark Whitney commissioner from Utah- presentations were excellent, <br /> funding for WIR was very good. Western Gov association - talk about security, IT and <br /> broadband availability and the problem with the rural counties. Big deal was the <br /> forest service and the public lands. Changes ongoing where shutting down some of <br /> the logging and mining - impacting communities substnaitally as wiping out <br /> economies. <br /> Direct funding coming out of DC- big deal to get the funding direct to the counties. <br /> NACo report: Had a 3 day meeting, NACo budget is in good shape. Do not have to <br /> worry about funding going forward. <br /> Talked about the lands of the western US, forest and public lands. Talked about the <br /> policies coming forward and how they might affect the western regions. Policies <br /> coming forward and how they might affect the regions. <br /> CM Kupukai: Email on Nov 12, includes vaccine mandates and build back better, <br /> will forward to everyone. On Nov 18 - NACo has a new resource analysis on the build <br /> back better, including x'150 BIM for affordable housing. <br /> Nov 22- NACo sent an email on a new report detailing county levers to drive <br /> economic mobility and economic mobility network. Next workforce development <br /> meeting is on Dec 8. Next board meeting is Atlanta on Dec 1- 4 will attend virtually. <br />
