over bee 23, 202. , . AC Meeting.Age-. .d Page 1 4 ti<aeEasp
CM King: Worked with finance department and started collecting in
November.
CM Paltin - Week leading up to Nov 1st, had to go back to dep of taxation especially
for the short term rentals. State taxes can enter in spreadsheets, now in the taxation
website there are a bunch of FAQs for smaller entities to address how we do things. If
you have questions can take a look at our website.
CM Waters: a specific fund needs to be created by a charter amendment so they
created a special account and needs to go by the entire council for how to spend the
money.
CM King: created revolving funds in department activities and then any sma
violations had to be addresses.
CM King:All bills go through two readings.
CM Waters:All go through three readings.
CMKimball: All go through two in council and one in committee. Also watching the
STVR stop - using language in that bill and watching what happens.
CM Waters: Previous director said if you are in the resort area you are good. New bill
requires a permit number and you must put that on your advertisement. Charge a
fee. liaise the taxes so they would be the same as the resort area which is three times
the residential rate. Created another special account where the money will go back to
.DPP to hire people to do enforcement. Changes the definition of short to rental from
30 days to 180 days.
CMKimball: Trying to resolve a built in exemption -for those who do not regularly do
a short term rental but only do it once or twice a year and do not advertise on airbnb.
CM Waters: DPP drafts have included - Many exemptions possible for students,
travelling healthcare workers. Will send it to CMKimball.
CM Paltin - When it went through the planning commission decided to use TMK
numbers which would be easier so you can look it up on the real property tax website.
The short term rental tax is higher than the hotel tax. If using the TMK can see if
they are legal and paying their taxes.
CM Kimball - do any of the counties have an agreement with the short term rental
vendors?MOU to share data.
CM Chock: We do.
CM King - our county is working on it. To add to what Tamara said, the planning
department said they would not have issue tracking the TKs
CMKimball: working on cesspool bill as well looking at ways to administer it.
