REQUEST: <br /> A Resolution authorizing the County (via R& D)to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)with the <br /> University of Hawaii at Hilo to establish a 3 year mutual agreement on roles and responsibilities of each <br /> party regarding collaborating on the facilitation of the Hawaii Island Recovery & Resilience Action Learning <br /> initiative. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED}' <br /> Pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes§46-7, the County may enter into agreements with "any public body" <br /> with the consent of Council. R & D is requesting that Council approve a resolution authorizing R & D to enter <br /> into an agreement with the University of Hawaii at Hilo, a public body, for the purposes of establishing a <br /> mutual agreement on roles and responsibilities to implement the Hawaii Island Recovery& Resilience Action <br /> Learning initiative. <br /> The purpose of the MOA is to enhance the educational experiences and engagement of UH-Hilo students <br /> and faculty in a series of action learning activities around advancing recovery and resilience on Hawaii <br /> Island. The County will work with its cohort of VISTA members and communities across the island to develop <br /> a series of action learning activities in the areas of shared mobility, energy efficiency, sustainablity and <br /> climate action, food access, economic recovery, and disaster recovery and resilience. <br /> This agreement is for three years, 2022-2025 and funds will not be exchanged between the parties. <br /> SIGNED: <br /> DATE: <br /> artment Head <br />
