REQUEST: <br /> This is a request to accept the Hawaii Police Departments Bomb Squad's vehicle procured by the State of 3 <br /> Hawaii through the Homeland security grant. The vehicle was received on April 28, 2020 and is a 2019 <br /> Chevy cargo truck VIN number 1 HA6GUCG8KN013599. Cost of vehicle was$104,415.67. <br /> Requesting to waive Finance Committee review. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> i <br /> The Hawaii Police Department, Maui Police Department and Kauai Police Department in 2017 entered into a <br /> memorandum of understanding to establish the Hawaii Interisland Bomb Squad. Two sworn personnel from <br /> each county were selected to be trained as bomb squad technicians*for each county for a total of six <br /> technicians within the squad. The squad obtained three sets of equipment required by the FBI to be <br /> accredited and each set is located on the respective islands. The equipment was obtained through the State <br /> of Hawaii Department of Defense by utilizing the Homeland Security grant. The bomb squad technicians <br /> received extensive training by homeland security and the FBI to be certified as technicians. On June 4, 2020 <br /> the Hawaii Interisland Bomb Squad was officially accredited by the National Bomb Squad Advisory Board <br /> (NBSCAB). <br /> �/ <br /> SIGNED: � DATE: 511912022 <br /> Department Head <br />
