Hale Ola O Mohouli Affordable Residential Development <br /> Transportation Impact Assessment Report <br /> 2.2 Roadway Conditions <br /> Key roadways in this study are Mohouli Street, Komohana Street, Kukuau Street, and <br /> Kupuna Place. <br /> 2.2.1 Roadway Descriptions <br /> Mohouli Street <br /> Mohouli Street provides mauka to makai access between Kaumana Drive and Kilauea <br /> Street. The older portion of the roadway, makai of Komohana Street, runs through a <br /> residential neighborhood and has a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour (mph). <br /> The roadway was extended mauka from Komohana Street to the Kaumana Drive/Ainako <br /> Avenue intersection in 2002. The newer section of roadway has wide paved shoulders <br /> that could be used to widen Mohouli Street to four lanes and has a posted speed limit of <br /> 45 mph. The lands adjoining this section of roadway are currently mostly vacant. The <br /> new section of roadway provides residents of Kaumana Drive and Ainako Avenue with <br /> an alternate access route to the south and west sections of Hilo. <br /> Figure 3 and Figure 4 illustrate the newer segment of Mohouli Street in the vicinity of the <br /> Kupuna Place access to the existing Mohouli Senior Residences. <br /> 1 <br /> F <br /> Figure 3 Mohouli Street Looking Makai Toward Komohana Street <br /> A=COM 3 November 2020 <br />
