REQUEST: <br /> i <br /> Please prepare a resolution to allow for a multi-year contract with KS Owner, LLC to lease space at Kings <br /> Shops for Hele-On bus operators to have a breakroom and to park up to 10 buses for Routes 70, 80 and 90. <br /> Request to waive Finance Committee and to breach for next available County Council meeting. <br /> I <br /> I <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> For several years, the contracted bus operators driving Hele-On bus service transport passengers from East, <br /> North and South Hawaii to Waikoloa Resorts. Once they get to Waikoloa Resorts, they wait inside their <br /> buses for upwards of 7 hours before returning back. For the health and welfare of these bus operators, staff <br /> has negotiated space to provide a rest area for the contracted bus operators. The County would enter into a <br /> mutli-year lease with KS Owner, LLC for one year with one one year option. It is envisioned that in a future <br /> request for proposals, it would be the responsibility of the contractor to provide a space at Waikoloa Resorts <br /> for their bus operators. The contractor, Roberts Hawaii will provide all associated furnishings for the leased <br /> space. <br /> The proposed lease terms are as follows: Base rent: Year 1:Year 1: $2,500 per month, plus GET. Parking <br /> for up to 10 buses would be an additional $100 per month, per stall used. Total annual initial term cost is <br /> $42,000. Additionally, the County will be responsible for paying associated utilities of electricity through a <br /> Hawaiian Electric. Restrooms will be available through the common area use. <br /> This amount is available in the Mass Transit Agency budget through the use of GET in account <br /> 025.311.5315.02.115 for the rent of the property and 025.311.5315.02.114 for the electricity. <br /> I <br /> �` pp <br /> SIGNED: DATE: 7/20/2022 <br /> Department Head <br />
