1 <br /> I OF <br /> G•'L,w. • .''oma J <br /> COUNTY OF A STATE OF HAWAPI <br /> �Tf OF•N}� 5 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 49.5 22 <br /> RESOLUTION AUIIN THE DEPARTMENT K <br /> RECREATION A FUNDS TO EASTHA I`1 CULTURAL <br /> COUNCIL <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, East Hawaii Cultural Council, which qualifies as a nonprofit <br /> organization as defined above, will work collaboratively with Hawaii island <br /> communities to divert plastics from our landfills and beaches and utilize technology to <br /> turn them into functional art; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to provide <br /> $75,000 to East Hawaii Cultural Council; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAFI, in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to provide a grant of <br /> $75,000 to East Hawaii Cultural Council to provide services as indicated above. <br />
