Pursuant to said requirement, a discussion of the pertinent policies <br /> and goals and the proj6ct's relationship follows: <br /> Goals <br /> A strong, viable economy characterized by stability, diversity. <br /> and growth that enables the fulfillment of the needs and <br /> expectations of Hawaii's present and future generations <br /> A desired physical environment characterized by beauty, <br /> cleanliness, quiet, stable and natural systems, and uniqueness <br /> that enhances the mental and physical well-being of the people <br /> Physical, social and economic well-being for individuals and <br /> families that nourishes a sense of community responsibility and <br /> caring of participation in family life. <br /> Discussion <br /> The proposed project would achieve these goals. It would provide <br /> both direct and indirect employment opportunities for current and <br /> future residents of the island; contribute to the island's overall tax <br /> base and hence, increase both State and County revenues; and <br /> complement and support other economic uses and in turn, <br /> contribute to the stability, diversity, and growth of local and regional <br /> economies. <br /> This short-term employment opportunity would come without <br /> adversely affecting the environment. There is no known wildlife or <br /> plant life listed as either endangered or threatened on the subject <br /> site. Then, too, there are no known significant archaeological <br /> features on the site. Any inadvertent finds will be addressed <br /> pursuant to the requirements of an approved Archaeological <br /> Monitoring Plan and the SHPD. <br /> Impacts to the surrounding areas would also not be significantly <br /> adverse. All required infrastructures will be in place by the <br /> applicant. These include a new road within the subdivision, <br /> drainage improvements, and the like. <br /> • Furthermore, the provision and/or retention of natural landscaped <br /> buffers around the perimeter of and selected portions within the <br /> • project site would also help mitigate any adverse visual and noise <br /> impacts to existing and potential neighboring residential or <br /> agricultural properties. <br /> 20 <br />
