Sako PHONE: 961-8811 <br /> A REQUEST: <br /> This is a request for a resolution to enter in a Memorandum of Agreement with the <br /> Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, State of Hawaii, to receive $500,000.00 for the <br /> purpose of supporting the Gorse Pilot Program. This program involves the harvesting of <br /> gorse from Mauna Kea, renovation of the Feed Mill at the University of Hawaii, at Hilo`s <br /> Panaewa Farm and conducting a study of gorse and other feedstock as a livestock feed for <br /> palatability and weight gain. <br /> Request a bill for an ordinance to appropriate the$500,000.00. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> Act 204 appropriated $500,000.00,from the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands Aina <br /> Legacy program to be used to renovate the Feed Mill, harvest gorse to be incorporated into <br /> livestock feed and to conduct feed trials for feed palatability and weight-gain.
