In this follow-up, we tested three recommendations to determine if DWS implemented our <br /> contingency plan recommendations. We determined two recommendations were implemented <br /> and one was resolved. We found: <br /> Status of Recommendations Status <br /> Develop and Implement a Complete Contingency and Communication <br /> Plan by District <br /> 1. We recommended DWS develop a written contingency plan by district to Resolved <br /> address emergency situations to mitigate potential impact on any <br /> community. Or, at a minimum, include contingency plans that address <br /> important risk scenarios into their Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). <br /> 2. We further recommended DWS develop and implement a communications Implemented <br /> plan to notify the public, administration, stakeholders, and all governmental <br /> agencies that rely on information that may affect them or a community. <br /> The plan should include but not limited to timely notices and updated status <br /> of water events and holding community public meetings timely. <br /> Update Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) <br /> 3. We recommended DWS update their Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) Implemented <br /> to include essential vendor contract information to ensure that quick <br /> reference information is accessible and available during emergencies. <br /> Department Actions <br /> Develop and Implement a Complete Contingency and Communication Plan by District <br /> 1. Completed Emergency Response Plan for seven water systems (Hilo, N. Kohala, N. Kona, <br /> Olaa-Mountain View, South Kohala, South Kona, and Haina) identifying threat scenarios. <br /> Completed Risk and Resiliency Assessment to help identify risks to further strengthen water <br /> systems resiliency. <br /> Plan to update continuity and contingency plans accordingly. <br /> 2. Developed and implemented communication plans and workflows for emergencies and non- <br /> emergencies. <br /> Update Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) <br /> 3. Added contact information for essential vendors to 2020 Continuity of Operations Plan <br /> (COOP). Approved sole source vendor for specialized water quality testing supplies. <br /> Plan to review and update vendor contact information on a routine basis to keep current. <br /> 2 Executive Summary <br />
