COUNTY OF HAWAII, '= : STATE OF HAWAII <br /> art os'M►'� <br /> BILL NO. 240 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE 2, DIVISION 1, SECTION <br /> 15-26, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION,AS AMENDED), <br /> RELATING TO USE OF VEHICLES AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS AT COUNTY <br /> PARKS AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> SECTION 1. Chapter 15, article 2, division 1, section 15-26 of the Hawai`i County Code <br /> 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended) is amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 15-26. Vehicles; [Parking] parking restricted. <br /> (a) No [unauthorized] vehicle shall be driven at, operated upon,.or parked within a park or <br /> recreational facility [area] except on paved or unpaved roads and parking areas specifically <br /> established [laid out] and provided for [public-used park or recreational facility users while <br /> they are actively using or seeking to use the park or recreational facility in a manner <br /> consistent with all applicable rules and regulations. <br /> (b) Parking of[meter] vehicles shall be [- . . - - . -. . • -. - ; • •• o] within <br /> marked stalls or in places designated for such use by appropriate signage as they may be <br /> provided[.-] or as otherwise permitted by the director. <br /> (c) Use of electric vehicle charging station parking stalls shall only be allowed for persons <br /> with qualified electric vehicles, while they are actively using the park or recreational <br /> facility and only while the vehicle is being charged. <br /> (d) No person shall stop, park, or leave standing any motor vehicle, whether attended or <br /> unattended, except in areas lawfully designated for parking. No person shall stop, <br /> stand, or park a vehicle on any landscaped or grassed areas; on walkways or trails; in <br /> a crosswalk; within any recreational facility; or in any location that obstructs an <br /> accessible route, park entrance or exit: road or driveway; fire lane, emergency access <br /> route,maintenance access, or in a manner that impedes the operation of a door or <br /> gate. <br /> (e) The director, or the director's authorized representative, may authorize temporary access to <br /> and use of any park or recreational facility for vehicle access and parking for specific uses, <br /> activities, events, or for construction purposes. <br /> (d) This section shall not apply to any vehicle that is clearly and officially designated as a <br /> County vehicle or vehicles operated by the Hawai`i police department, provided that the <br /> operator of the vehicle is on duty." <br /> SECTION 2. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is <br /> underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed and stricken material, and <br /> underscoring need not be included. <br />
