i
i
i
September_ 20, 2022, HSAC Meeting agenda Page ( 7
y
°Acou
CM King: On Maui we invited them too. May be easier next year, not in
an election year.
ED Parsons:It would be helpful in our debrief if we can put together a guideline of
the timeline and process involved in coordinating the conference.
CMKimball: We did archive everything, so we are happy to hand it off to the next
person.
CM Rawlins:A conference event planner could be covered by the funds they raise.
CM Chock: We have put out a request for hotels on Kauai, most likely to be on the
south end of Kauai, which is where a recent event was held. Guessing by next month
we will be able to dignify that and make the announcement. We will definitely make
some sort of invitation so they know it is on Kauai and they know to come. The
reason why the ED is important is so that we have someone consistent while we
circulate through. My staff are ready to manage the conference.
CMKing. It is helpful to have all folks from all islands help out, we had to pull
together a conference in 6 months.
CM Chock: We will evaluate the need to hire someone and see what is needed to make
it successful. Put it on the list for consideration. Timing is that we had a conference
mid year. The problem with that is that we have passed the fiscal period as we are
thinking of July or August but not this far. Trying to get back on track following the
pandemic. Looking at room rates for when the best time is.
CMKimball: September and October are significantly cheaper that time of the year.
ED Parsons: One of the concerns was the black out period for the election period.
CMKimball: This will still apply in July and August as well. It may even be more
difficult.
CM Chock:My staff for the golf tournament did a lot of work and it is good that we
set a high bar. My message is that this has to be a fundraising event to support what
we want to be able to do as HSAC.
CM Waters: Thank you to President Chock and ED for putting together the golf
tournament. Everyone was smiling and everyone was happy. Did a great job.
