COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •+la's Mi p0. •f`\ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> RESOLUTION II THE DEPARTMENT <br /> DEVELOPMENTAND O AWARD FUNDS TO THE FOOD BASKET <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Food Basket, which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as <br /> defined above, will cultivate fresh produce, reduce food waste, increase the volume <br /> of fruits and vegetable diverted to local food assistance programs, expand the <br /> consumption of local agricultural products, deepen engagement with Hawaii Island's <br /> food system and heighten the program's sustainability; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research & Development wishes to provide <br /> $91,500 to The Food Basket; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br />
