The grant will be used to cultivate fresh <br /> produce, reduce food waste, increase the volume of fruits and vegetable diverted to local <br /> food assistance programs, expand the consumption of local agricultural products, deepen <br /> engagement with Hawaii Island's food system and heighten the program's sustainability. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Department of Research& Development to <br /> provide $91,500 to The Food Basket,pursuant to Hawaii County Code (2016 Edition as <br /> amended) Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A). <br /> If there are any questions,please do not hesitate to call Sarah Freeman of the Department <br /> of Research& Development, at 961-8582. <br /> Deanna S.
