ylaf,�. <br /> COUNTY OF c s+ STATE OF HAWAVI <br /> 1pE Qf.w,.p1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2Ej 2 <br /> RESOLUTIONI 1 T OF RESEARCH <br /> DEVELOPMENTAND I MALAMA 1 KE <br /> L `OLILI <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hui Malama i ke Ala `01ili, which qualifies as a nonprofit <br /> organization as defined above, will establish a community resilience hub in Pa`auilo <br /> to address the current and future needs for food systems, a sustainable economy <br /> and community care; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research & Development wishes to provide <br /> $100,000 to Hui Malama i ke Ala `01ili; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, the Department of Research & Development is authorized to provide a grant of <br /> $100,000 to Hui Malama i ke Ala `01ili to provide services as indicated above. <br />
