Sako PHONE: 961-8811 <br /> A REQUEST: <br /> This is a request for a resolution to enter into a contract with La'i'6pua 2020, a non-profit <br /> organization, for the purpose of supporting the Ho'okahua Food Preservation Project for <br /> $100,000.00. This program will teach food preservation techniques, encourage the <br /> community to buy local produce, and support a food program for qualified students in West <br /> Hawaii. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The application, Ho`okahua Food Preservation Project, was selected for funding as a result of <br /> the Request for Proposals (RFP) no. 2022-01. <br /> The non-profit, La`i`6pua 2020, is the Principal Investigator for this project. It operates a <br /> certified child care facility in West Hawaii. For this project, 525 West Hawaii K-12 students <br /> will be introduced to food preservation techniques for canoe plants through workshops, 125 K- <br /> 5 students through after school and summer enrichment programs and preserved foods will <br /> be sent home with 125 students during long weekends. <br /> SIGNED: DATE: November 23, 2022 <br /> D rtment Head <br />
