National Fire Protection Association 1, Fire Code and Hawaii <br /> State Fire Code. <br /> (a) The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1, Fire Code, 2018 Edition, is <br /> adopted and incorporated by reference into this article, subject to the amendments <br /> hereinafter set forth. The annexes to the NFPA 1, Fire Code are not adopted except as <br /> provided in this article. <br /> (b) The Hawai`i State Fire Code (2018 HSFC) has also been incorporated into this article, <br /> subject to amendment. Relevant provisions of the HSFC 2018 are set out in brackets <br /> following each installation provision. <br /> [2018 HSFC: 4] <br /> (1) Title. Section 1.1.2 is amended to read as follows: <br /> "1.1.2 Title. This chapter shall be known as the fire code, may be cited as such, <br /> and will be referred to herein as this code." Section 1.3.3.3 is added to read as follows: <br /> "1.3.3.3 When a conflict between this code and the building code, regarding the <br /> design and construction of buildings occurs, the building code, chapter 5A, shall <br /> apply. <br /> Exception: This code shall not apply to new construction except when this code is <br /> specifically referenced in the building code, chapter 5A." <br /> [2018 HSFC: 7] <br /> (3) Building code.
