For the past four years our organization has provided our water safety ocean awareness education to middle school students.ADDF's water <br /> safety director,water safety officer along with our certified lifeguards prepare our youth with the knowledge,skills,and lifesaving experience <br /> they need to stay safe in and out of the ocean. <br /> 2.In 1,000 characters,briefly describe the program you are seeking grant funds for.* • <br /> ADDF's Educational program is provided to middle school students attending a public,private or charter school.The purpose is to provide <br /> water safety,ocean awareness and emergency lifesaving education in tandem with student's health and physical education curriculum. <br /> Knowledge and understanding of water environments and their associated hazards should,be taught to everyone at the earliest possible age. <br /> Our target population consist of youth,male and female between the ages of 11-17 who attend schools in rural areas on Hawaii Island in West <br /> Hawaii,North and South Kohala and Hamakua Districts.Each School will participate in a two-day event with Friday's being the day of hands- <br /> on interactive stations at the beach.During this nine-week period we can impact 700-800 students annually who live in some of the most rural <br /> areas of the Big Island.Our education program is enlarging our footprint and changing the culture towards water safety education as a way of <br /> life for our youth. <br /> Alexander&Duke De Rego Foundation-Water Safety&Ocean Awareness Education <br /> • <br /> • <br />
