No. 57-23 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:04 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred <br /> Resolution No. 57-23, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution 57-23, transmitted via Communication No. 104 dated February 2, 2023, and <br /> introduced by Council Members Jennifer Kagiwada and Ashley Kierkiewicz,urges the Hawai`i <br /> State Legislature to amend Chapter 457J, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, relating to midwives, to <br /> permanently exempt birth attendants from state licensure requirements and to expand the <br /> eligibility criteria for midwifery licensure. <br /> This resolution supports the passage of Senate Bill No. 1047 and House Bill No. 955. <br /> The Committee received both written and oral public testimony on this measure.
