County Reports:
i. County of Hawaii
CM Kimball: Animal control has been done by the humane Society for years, we are
looking at expanding the animal control code to expand services. If any other
counties have information on this, please let the County of Hawaii know.
The county requirements are very narrow in terms of what the county is required to
do.
CM Paltin: Someone had questions about feral cats and the animal control board
only deals with dangerous dogs.
CM Kimball: Feedback from the community is that they want us to deal with spay
and neuter or other services but we do not have enough resources for this and we are
not the best entity to provide these services. Need to improve the law on this.
ii. County of Kauai
CM Carvalho: For the conference ,we have Koolau landing tentatively secured, and
would like to invite REPI to present at the conference.
CM Ropozo: Struggling with real property tax on Kauai. All of the counties are
looking at ways, asking to carve out a section of the program to have a discussion on
real property tax at the conference and invite the people from the real property offices
to talk about this. Would like to hear from others on what has been tried and what
works and doesn't work.
CM Kimball: Comment on the conference, when you will get links for the
registration, if we can get it before the end of the year that would be great.
iii.
