the top priorities is to ensure Isaac Kepo`okalani Hale Beach Park is a safe gathering and <br /> recreational space for keiki, kupuna, `ohana, and visitors; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Program was designed <br /> to help fund and address the needs and concerns of the Lower Puna region; and <br /> WHEREAS, Resolution No. 450-22 was adopted on August 3, 2022, which transferred <br /> $360,000 in the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Fund for the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to hire security 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Isaac Kepo`okalani <br /> Hale Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 2023, the cost for security increased by $40,000, creating a need for <br /> additional funding to ensure the successful continuation of this service; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 36, Section 2-181, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 <br /> Edition, as amended), and with the approval of the Planning Director, the following amount be <br /> and is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $400,000 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 095.141.5143.02 Geothermal OCE $400,000 <br /> CREDITED TO: <br /> 095.500.5556.02 Geothermal Parks & Recreation OCE $400,000 <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that$400,000 from the Geothermal Relocation and <br /> Community Benefits Fund will be utilized to hire security for Isaac Kepo`okalani Hale Beach <br /> Park. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Parks and Recreation and the <br /> Department of Research and Development support prototyping a community-based security and <br /> 2 <br />
