REQUEST: <br /> 1. A resolution authorizing the Department of Research and Development to enter into an agreement with <br /> the Department of Land and Natural Resources and to accept a subaward of$350,000.00 for <br /> development of Statewide Priority and Comprehensive Climate Action Plans in coordination with the <br /> Hawaii Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission. <br /> 2. A Bill for Ordinance to Accept and Appropriate the $350,000.00 Subaward to Research and <br /> Development. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant(CPRG) is a $5 billion dollar allocation of the 2022 Inflation <br /> Reduction Act dedicated to spurring nationwide climate action planning and development of statewide <br /> Climate Action Plans through formula planning grants and competitive implementation grants. The State of <br /> Hawaii Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission has received $3 million in formula grants for <br /> the planning and development of a Priority Climate Action Plan and a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan <br /> which will then qualify selected climate action projects for competitive federal funding.
