REPORT OFT E <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> 3 <br /> DATE: July 25, 2023 Re: Comm.No. 359/Res.No. 202-23 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:01 a.m. <br /> 3 <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 202-23, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 202-23,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna Sako, via Communication No. 359 <br /> dated June 29, 2023, authorizes the acceptance of a grant award of$200,000 from Hawaii Community <br /> Foundation to support Financial Empowerment Services. <br /> Funds would be used to support no-cost financial and ownership counseling provided by a certified <br /> United States Department of Housing and Urban Development counseling service provider. <br /> Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder asked Housing and Community Development Specialist <br /> Sharon Hirota for a brief overview of this measure. <br /> Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz thanked Ms. Hirota for all her efforts in acquiring these <br /> funds, especially during the pandemic. She asked Ms. Hirota how the community can access these <br /> services.
