No. 207-23 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 2:20 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution <br /> No. 207-23,reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 207-23, transmitted by Council Member Holeka Goro Inaba, via Communication <br /> No. 374, dated July 6, 2023, awards a Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation <br /> Maintenance Fund Stewardship Grant to Kohanaiki `Ghana. <br /> This resolution would approve a grant of$38,220 to Kohanaiki `Ohana, a 501(c)(3)nonprofit <br /> organization to protect, preserve, and restore the `O`oma Beach property in North Kona, (Tax Map <br /> Key: 7-3-009-0004), pursuant to Section 10-16(h) of the Hawai`i County Charter. <br /> Chair Inaba relinquished the chair to Vice Chair Galimba. Chair Inaba said that this organization does <br /> good work at 'O'oma and Kohanaiki Beach Park and asks for everyone's support. <br /> Maxine Cutler from the Department of Finance spoke highly in favor of this stewardship grant and <br /> further stated that she was impressed with their plantings and restoration of the trail, and highly <br /> recommends them for multi-year grants. Karen Eoff, representing Kohanaiki `Ohana, was in attendance <br /> in Kona Council Chambers for questions.
