i <br /> .J�SY,OF......... <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI I •: j- STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> •TEOF• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 233 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> LIONS FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT THE 2023 DOWNTOWN HILO CHRISTMAS <br /> LIGHTS PARADE. <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Lions Foundation(BILF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> comprised of four(4) East Hawai`i Lions Clubs whose mission is to improve health and well- <br /> being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian services and <br /> grants that impact lives globally, and encourage peace and international understanding; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Downtown Hilo Christmas Lights Parade brings members of the <br /> community together to express their gratitude, sense of joy, and appreciation during the holiday <br /> season; and <br /> WHEREAS, BILF works in conjunction with the volunteer parade committee to <br /> successfully organize and facilitate this landmark community event being held on Saturday, <br /> November 25, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.; and <br /> WHEREAS, BILF is requesting funding assistance to help cover necessary expenses, <br /> including, but not limited to, special-duty police officers, permits, signage, advertising, and other <br /> parade supplies and expenses; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that promote <br /> family-friendly events and activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Big Island Lions Foundation to support the 2023 <br /> Downtown Hilo Christmas Lights Parade. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
