REQUEST: <br />Requesting approval on accepting the donation of two, Tommy Lift Gates and their installation. One, to <br />be installed on Hawaii Police Department truck, bearing Hawaii license plate C of H 3624 assigned to <br />Community Policing Section, Area I. The second to be installed Hawaii Police Department truck, bearing Hawaii <br />license plate C of H 3632 assigned to Community Policing Section, Area 11. The Tommy Lift Gates are being <br />donated by Vibrant Hawaii, a nonprofit organization. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />The Hawaii Police Department recently began a partnership in early 2023 with Vibrant Hawaii, a nonprofit <br />organization, with the goal of promoting community resiliency. In June 2023, over 60 individuals, including HPD <br />participated in the Vibrant Hawaii Resilience Hub Summit. During discussions with Vibrant Hawaii it was <br />determined the donation of Tommy Lift Gates fit into Vibrant Hawaii's goals and objectives by assisting HPD in <br />better serving the community. Through the acceptance of this donation, HPD will be able to better serve the <br />community in providing service delivery during major disasters and events that frequently take place on the Big <br />Island. It would greatly assist in the delivery of heavier, emergency equipment and supplies to remote areas. It <br />not only provides a means by which the improvement for public service can take place in the form of equipment <br />improvement, continuation of the partnership supports the department's objective as it relates to our Mission <br />statement.
