Per federal law, the County is responsible for the maintenance of roads
located on Hawaiian home lands in Keaukaha.
The DHHL is conducting sewer and water line work on roads located on Hawaiian home
lands in Keaukaha ("sewer and water line project"). The Department of Public Works ("DPW")
and DHHL have agreed to mutually contribute to the maintenance and improvement of said
roads, upon completion of each phase of DHHL's sewer and water line project. The agreement
states that DHHL will provide the funds for the maintenance and improvement of the roads, and
DPW will provide the labor and equipment. DHHL is nearly finished with the sewer and water
line work for phase one of the sewer and water line project; therefore, to expedite the execution
of the road maintenance and improvement agreement, and the subsequent road work. DPW is
requesting that this resolution be waived through committee and placed on the full Council
agenda at the earliest possible time.
Very-tryly yo rs,
Sincla r has-Fer so
Deputy orporation nsel
SSF:ksl
Enclosure
,355-Q3> Comm.
