No. 571/Res. No. 339-23 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 339-23, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 339-23, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication No. 571 <br />dated October 26, 2023, creates one new Clerk III position for the Department of Research and <br />Development. <br />This resolution establishes a new position to provide clerical support to the Administrative Services <br />Assistant and numerous Specialists in the department. <br />Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder asked if any representatives from the Department of <br />Research and Development were present to provide background and answer questions should the <br />committee have any. Seeing none, Mr. Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder called on Finance Director Deanna Sako. <br />Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba provided some background on this measure. Mr. Inaba asked <br />Ms. Sako if the County budget could support the creation of the requested positions. Ms. Sako <br />confirmed that the budget would be able to support these requests. She told Mr. Inaba that she and <br />Mayor Mitch Roth looked at the budget and the list of proposed positions requested by the departments <br />and limited their approval to positions of urgency. <br />Committee Member Cindy Evans asked Ms. Sako for details on the pay scale for these positions and the <br />budget subaccount these positions would get paid from. Ms. Sako provided Ms. Evans with details on <br />how this pay scale would work. She also confirmed that their Salary and Wages are broken down, but <br />she is unsure what specific subaccount this would be covered by. She confirmed that the department <br />could do a transfer if needed. <br />Mr. Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder asked Ms. Sako to provide a list of all created positions within this last fiscal <br />year. Ms. Sako stated that the budget ordinance summarized the positions, but she could make a list for <br />him. <br />FC Report No. 108 <br />
