REQUEST: <br /> The Department of Public Works-Engineering Division is requesting an amendment to Ordinance 23-51, as <br /> amended, by adding appropriation to the Capital Budget for the following project: <br /> DPW- Puna Makai Alternate Route Study -County $500,000 <br /> DPW- Puna Makai Alternate Route Study- State $1,000,000 <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE.ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The State of Hawaii has approved the delegation of$1,500,000 ($1,000,000 in State funds and $500,000 in <br /> County funds) for the Puna Makai Alternate Route Study. As required by the State to release their portion of <br /> $1,000,000, the County of Hawaii must contribute $500,000 in matching funds. <br /> Funds will be used for plans and design to conduct site surveys on Hawaii Island to identify the most suitable <br /> location for an alternate route in Puna below Highway 130.
