Form #:B-52
7/18/91
DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
DEPARTMENT: R&D DATE: December 192023
STAFF CONTACT
A.
RileyPHONE: 808'323-4704
Approval toenter into an intergovernmental agency agreement. Requesting o bill toappropriate BTAQnant
funds.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDEQ:
R&D applied for the Broadband Technical Assistance Grant under the USDA in which an award was made to
the County of $69,680.00.
To bolster our community's resilience, we have identified 9 Affordable Housing Complexes that do not currently
have broadband (internet) access. We would use USDN Broadband Technical Assistance funds to pursue
technical assistance to evaluate the specific infrastructure needs and associated costs to inform next steps for
infrastructure development. This information will help us pursue further funding to install broadband in those
areas. We would also partner with USDA Rural Development to conduct outreach and needs assessment
meetings to incorporate community feedback into the future installation process.
