REQUEST: <br /> • <br /> Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for two (2) 2024/2025 production <br /> year Grapple trucks. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Solid Waste Division utilizes grapple trucks to move unwanted and disposed of scrap metals, old <br /> appliances and big bulky items from the various transfer stations to the contractors permitted scrap metal <br /> facility. <br /> Incorporating the additional two trucks will provide the Operations more flexibility in serving all the facilites <br /> islandwide. Additionally, it will ensure that the Division can keep up with the ever growing population of <br /> Hawaii Island, as well as remain in compliance with the rules and regulations of the State Department of <br /> Health <br /> This equipment will be leased financed such that the County will own the equipment at the end of a five year <br /> lease. The total purchase price for the 2 trucks is estimated to be $612,000. It is estimated that the monthly <br /> lease payments for the 2 trucks will be $11,000, the annual estimated payments is $132,000. <br /> Funding for the lease is included in the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget, due to the delivery andlead time, the <br /> first payment is not expected to be made unitl Q3 FY2024/2025. <br /> • <br /> SIGNED: ( .---Ydt✓�.
