REQUEST: <br /> Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for seven (7) Truck tractors <br /> (Semi-trucks), 2024/2025 model year <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Solid Waste Division utilizes truck tractors to haul refuse trailers from rural transfer stations and the East <br /> Hawaii Regional Sort Station (EHRSS) to the West Hawaii Sanitary Landfill located in Waikoloa. <br /> Many of the Division's current fleet of truck tractors are old and reaching the end of their useful life. They are <br /> becoming costly to repair and maintain. <br /> The Division is requesting to purchase 7 truck tractors to replace trucks that are currently 15 years or older. <br /> A reliable fleet of trucks is essential for operating the transfer stations and the EHRSS and maintaining <br /> compliance with the rules and regulations as set forth by the State Department of Health.. <br /> This equipment will be leased financed such that the County will own the equipment at the end of a five year <br /> lease. The purchase price is estimated at $282,000 per truck or$1,974,000 for all 7.
