Rain is <br /> impacting the ocean. Thousands of families living in and around the burn zone. Elementary <br /> school is close to half a mile from the burn zone. Some schools are trying online learning. <br /> Removing recyclable metals first, ash is being washed away by rain. Ppl cannot get building <br /> permit approved until acceptable standards, but can submit permits now. Working on boards and <br /> commissions. The Unity march happened on Maui. <br /> iv. City and County of Honolulu <br /> CM Waters: Transferring the remaining ARPA money for hazard pay for workers who put lives <br /> on the line during covid. Sharing report on upcoming hearing on first development project using <br /> Gov's emergency proclamation setting aside the City authority, the hearing will be on Kuhio <br /> Park Terrace. Looking at working to create our own revolving fund, or leverage existing funds. <br /> 21H projects discussion - challenge with getting support from the community where the <br /> affordable housing is going. <br /> CM Billy DeCosta: Workforce housing is where we should focus, raise the hotel fund to build <br /> that fund. <br /> Discussion on various tax rates on hotels and short term rental across the various islands. <br /> CM Kimball: Idea to contact NACo person to,follow up on inviting someone,from Lincoln Policy <br /> institute to share on best practices on this. <br /> CM Sue Lee Loy: Discussion on the cost per square foot of construction. <br /> c. NACo Report <br /> CM Kualii: We have the highest representation on the NACo board that we have ever had. <br /> Participation is great. Leg conference coming up on Feb 8-11. Reminder to work on any <br /> resolutions that you want introduced. Ask that when we do congressional meetings, we also <br /> highlight the NACo priorities. WIR, May 7-10 in Mariposa county, annual for July in Tampa. <br />
