REQUEST: <br /> Request a resolution for the County to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the State Department of <br /> Health, Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Division for the purpose of receiving grant funds <br /> to advance the County's work on Multi-Modal Transportation Safety. This Agreement covers the period of <br /> May 1, 2024,to April 30, 2026. <br /> Please create an ordinance to appropriate funds up to$75,000.00 to revenue account 010.3309.25 and <br /> expense account 010.141.5141.61.104. <br /> IS 'fn <br /> Request to waive Committee and for request to be placed on the May,t, 2024, Council meeting agenda. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> Mulit-Modal Transportation Safety is a key concept in both Vision Zero, a nation wide effort to reduce traffic <br /> fatalites to zero by planing and designing roadways around its most vulnerable users, and Complete Streets, <br /> a nation-wide program to help local jurisdictions design, build, and operate streets to enable safe access for <br /> all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and transit riders of all ages and abilities and regards <br /> multimodal transportation . The Couty of Hawaii passed a Complete Streets Policy in October of 2011 (Res. <br /> 171-11), and adpoted a Vision Zero Action plan (Res. 746-20) and Street Design Manual (779-20) in 2020 to <br /> The State Department of Health, Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Division is providing <br /> funds to allow key staff to attend Multimodal Transportation Saftey trainings to further the County's capacity <br /> to plan for, design, and build complete streets and implent our plans and policys through Multi-modal <br /> trasportation planning and design. <br /> SIGNED: /0 DATE: / <br /> Department Head <br />
