Form #: B-52 <br />7/18/91 <br />DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />DEPARTMENT: Office of the Prosecuting Attorney DATE: 7/15/24 <br />STAFF CONTACT: Grant Nagata — PHONE: 934-3310 <br />Approval to accept a donation valued at approximately $17,370 to have (7) Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys <br />and (3) Investigators from our office, to attend the "Protecting Children Online" training held on Maui, HI from <br />7/30/24 to 8/2/24. The Statewide Children's Justice Act Grant Task Force (CJA) will reimburse airfare and <br />airport parking and will be providing lodging for three nights and.registration fees. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />The National Criminal Justice Training Center (NCJTC) in partnership with the Hawaii Children's Justice Act <br />(CJA) Grant Task Force and the Children's Justice Centers of Hawaii (qJCs) are hosting an in -person, three- <br />day training on Protecting Children Online. Faculty from NCJTC, Jeffery Dort, Deputy District Attorney, San <br />Diego District Attorney's Office and Wayne Nichols, Retired Detective from Henderson Police Department in <br />Nevada will be the trainers and speakers. This training will cover topics and modules such as: Technology <br />Overview, Innovative Approaches in Child Exploitation Investigations, Preparing and Presenting the Case in;. <br />Chief, Search and Seizure of Electronic Evidence, Presenting the Expert Witness: Challenges Facing You <br />When You Present an Experts and Trial Demonstrations. <br />
