Program/Service Details
Please keep in mind that character counts include punctuation and spaces. Note:organizations are required to
have at least one year of experience with the proposed service/activity OR can demonstrate sufficient expertise.
1.Provide the nonprofit organization's mission statement.*
Aloha'Ilia Rescue(AIR)seeks to minimize the overpopulation of dogs on the Island of Hawaii and to effect
change in the mindset of our community about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership through education.
2.If this application is for a program/service using a nonprofit organization as a fiscal sponsor, provide the
mission statement of the organization carrying out the program/service.
3.In 500 characters,provide a brief narrative about your organization's experience,knowledge,and capacity to
carry out the proposed program/service.*
Funded largely by community support,Aloha'Ilio Rescue grew from spaying/neutering(SIN)and rehoming less
than 200 dogs/year in 2014 to more than 700 dogs in 2024.S/N and other medical care and support services
are also provided to financially challenged community members. We have an excellent,long-standing
relationship with Good Karma Spay And Neuter Clinic in Hilo, which provides us timely and low-cost spay/neuter
services and we have recently established a relationship with West Hawaii Animal Urgent Care clinic in Kona,
which will allow us to provide more support in West Hawaii.
4.In 1,000 characters, briefly describe the program/service you are seeking grant funds for.
AIR is seeking funds to spay and neuter the stray, abandoned and owner-surrendered dogs that come into our
care.AIR would also use program funds to spay and neuter and provide other medical services, such as
vaccinations, parasite control and prevention to pets of low-income families or individuals that request our
assistance. These services help owners to keep their animals despite financial pressures instead of surrendering
them to our overtaxed rescues and animal control services or at worst simply abandoning them and also help
keep them healthy and not spreading parasites and diseases.
Aloha Ilio Rescue-Aloha ilio Rescue Spay Neuter and Medical Care
