3.2 Climate Change Goal, <br />Policies, and Actions <br />Objectives, <br />Ensure a just transition to a climate resilient island by addressing the causes and <br />impacts of climate change through incorporating equitable climate mitigation <br />and adaptation priorities into policies, programs, infrastructure, and decision - <br />making. <br />Objective 6 <br />Ensure that climate actions are equitable and uplift marginalized and disadvantaged <br />communities. <br />Policies <br />6.1 Prioritize and support community -based organizations, businesses, and programs through County <br />purchasing and procurement policies. <br />6.2 Prioritize and support Low- and Moderate -Income (LMI) communities through tax incentives, <br />grants, and financial support provided to community members, organizations, and other related <br />groups. <br />6.3 Prioritize projects in communities that experience disproportionate impacts of climate change. <br />6.4 Consider financial and time barriers, geographic constraints, and language accessibility when <br />conducting community outreach. <br />6.5 Improve the communication of climate risks and opportunities for adaptation efforts. <br />6.6 Support communities to become fire -adapted as they prepare for climate change. <br />6.7 Expand urban forestry benefits to disadvantaged communities. <br />6.8 Support social science research and applications to help address environmental justice and <br />intergenerational equity. <br />6.9 Integrate Native Hawaiian traditional knowledge and practices in planning for the impacts of <br />climate change. <br />Actions <br />6.a Increase transparency of government actions by creating a climate change dashboard and portal <br />to track the implementation of climate action. <br />6.b Engage communities by incorporating place -based knowledge and qualitative data to guide <br />implementation priorities and decision -making. <br />3.0 Addressing Climate Change for Island -Wide Health I County of Hawaii General Plan 68 <br />
