6.c Promote funding opportunities for LMI communities to implement climate action, including <br />interactive videos and workshops that meet communities where they are. <br />Objective 7 <br />Reduce the County's carbon footprint to net zero emissions by 2045. <br />Achieve a 100 percent renewable -powered County fleet by 2035. <br />Support the statewide effort to achieve 100 percent renewable ground <br />transportation and 100 percent renewable energy by 2045. <br />Policies <br />7.1 Incentivize efficiencies that integrate affordable housing and carbon neutrality. <br />7.2 Require energy -efficient designs in all new County facilities and upgrade existing facilities with <br />energy -efficient systems. <br />7.3 Support building code updates that incentivize energy -efficient designs and climate -neutral <br />building methods and materials. <br />7.4 Encourage and incentivize the use of technologies, techniques, and materials in building design, <br />construction, and removal that minimize the ecological footprint overthe life cycle of the structure. <br />7.5 Encourage and incentivize large developments to meet energy sustainability certification <br />standards. <br />7.6 Strive for energy sustainability certification for new County buildings or when renovating existing <br />buildings for County use. <br />7.7 'Prioritize energy -efficient designs, energy -efficient systems, and waste reduction and/or reuse at <br />County facilities. <br />7.8 Evaluate Capital Improvement Projects for energy efficiency and carbon reduction, including the <br />cost savings related to improved design. <br />7.9 Partner with government, private and nonprofit agencies, communities, and other stakeholders to <br />develop comprehensive and coordinated strategies promoting energy and water conservation to <br />strive for climate resilience. <br />7.10 When evaluating public investments, including acquisition, siting, and design, consider the <br />potential of natural areas for carbon sequestration and provide climate adaptation and mitigation <br />opportunities. <br />7.11 Integrate and incentivize urban forestry into all scales of planning where feasible and compatible <br />with infrastructure. <br />7.12 Develop carbon -emission standards and an incentive program aimed at achieving County carbon <br />emission goals. <br />7.13 All County facilities shall report energy usage annually. <br />7.14 Program the upgrading of the County vehicle fleet and equipment to net zero emissions. <br />7.15 The Mass Transit Agency shall operate a net zero emissions fleet by 2035. <br />3.0 Addressing Climate Change for Island -Wide Health I County of Hawaii General Plan 69 <br />
