In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these funds. <br />The festival aims to attract 300 attendees to sample professional chef's dishes made with feral pig meat that has been <br />butchered in compliance with USDA food safety laws and regulations. Chefs participating in this competition will provide <br />recipes that will be used to publish a cookbook to help spur demand for the feral pig meat products. Ticket sales will be <br />used to evaluate the success of the event, interviews may be conducted during the event to assess the public's reaction, <br />and attendees will be invited to submit an evaluation as they leave the event which will guide future festivals. A website <br />will be produced to attract attention to the event and efforts to mitigate feral pig issues on the Big Island so viewership <br />can be assessed. Response to social media advertisements will also be tracked. <br />* <br />58. A professional services contract to address a 4-point plant to help mitigate issues <br />with feral pigs on Big Island. The 4 points address 1) determining the feasibility of standing up a mobile slaughter unit and <br />auxiliary services such as a cut & wrap facility; 2) researching methods for decomposing the non -edible portions of a pig <br />carcass including black soldier fly and other alternatives such as biogas; 3) exploring ways to increase demand for feral pig <br />meat including hosting a festival and developing a cookbook, and 4) working with the hunting community to provide single <br />and multi -pig traps, conduct education on pig diseases and provide do-it-yourself slaughter education. <br />
